Lynk blues

And so on, the blues start to grow like mushrooms with blue mots, a couple of months ago NCB decided to cut off costs and generally in global corporations means to fire people from their jobs. To be honest that's bullocks, I understand the current economic system, but that doesn't mean I like it. It is unfair that a lot of effort and passion that people put into a project from one day to another by the decision of few persons. The same bullshit remembers me what happened with Equifax, the new CEO, with his great insights, decided that the company has been incurred into several costs and the typical solution at the end that meant to fire the people.

But hold on, what is a company without people? You cannot ride out persons with experience and maturity in the project. That is something that cracks my mind, by the way that reminds me the current strike in the US against General motors, Ford & Stellantis. Meanwhile CEOs get millions, they scavenger to the workers for a few dollars, even if the current year was one with the best results. The problem with this system is that companies forgot they social impact, instead they look for money no matter what and these ideas impact not only the workers, but as well the planet.

By the way talking about NCB & Lynk, you can read in the Gleaner. I don't believe the 2% that Mr. Lee-Chin mentioned.

Talking more about the guy behind the keyboard, my experience in Lynk was really fruitful, after working long time with a specific software architecture, we tried to break the monolith and at the end the monolith become in other monoliths technically speaking, then when I moved to Baufest and after two months, I found myself immerse into a world wide open with new experiences and technologies, the architecture patterns were new and interesting, but not only the technical aspects were refreshing, as well the labor environment was curious, people from Jamaica, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Spain, all these humans working at unison to provide a digital wallet for the folks that live in the land of Bob Marley, so I guess this is one of the interesting thing of being human, despite that some guys in society repeat until the annoyance that the human fight for the survival of the fittest, Lynk was a clear example of collaborative environment, you cannot think in the great Egypt pyramids build by the fittest, instead we can imagine a gregarious society with a goal in mind, so that was my impression as soon as the Jamaicans working in Lynk start to talk about their impressions of the system that they(we) were building. Therefore I felt good working for a system that will benefit the people that loves the callaloo in their tables.

Last but no least, I am grateful for being part of the fintech, of course Baufest is behind. Thinking about Jamaica, I had the sense, metaphorically, of being a pirate that enjoyed to make port in Kingston, leave cargo bytes, now the winds have changed and it is time to sail to another ports, but for sure my fellow Lynkies and buccaneers the adventure has been a pleasure, farewell and see you soon, who knows, maybe the elysées stick us together one more time.

I liked some words that comrades started post, so I share ones:

We are pioneers!

Lynk pioneered a mammoth task! Boldly going in Jamaica where no one has gone before. Disrupters! World changers! To change culture a most difficult task. In the corners and streets where financial world shake to trod but we walked it. Making digital connections NEVER THOUGHT POSSIBLE!!! But Lynk did it!!! Ups and downs , pains and joys but wi keep it REAL. We heard the naysayers and haters and those who sought to kill the thing but we pressed forward. It has not been easy but the team was resilient to the core always bouncing back for the next challenge. Those who know KNOW. Those who saw and felt the fight understand. We know the thing legit to the max!!! We know those staying are torn and those going are pained but will fly again. We all know how it ended aint right!!!!! But a we name Lynk, so we press on wid fervor, wisdom, love and respect in spite of. Big up di Lynk family yuh nuh!!!
